Current Projects and Activities
- Initiated and developing the Advancing Energy Literacy in Alberta process.
Accomplishments
We developed and facilitated:
- 2009 and 2010 Alberta Conferences on Energy Literacy
- The 2001 National Energy Education Conference with multi-stakeholder participants from all provinces and territories in Canada.
- Alberta's Energy Education Forum, with Inside Education, hosted by Alberta Energy from 2002-2005; participation by over 50 agencies, companies and community organizations.
- Our Boreal Legacy, a process to advance public understanding of issues related to Alberta's boreal.
- A multi-stakeholder process to secure and deliver the 2002 and 2003 National Forest Capital programs.
- The education program for the Edmonton National Forest Capital Society.
We sponsored:
- Canadian Energy Education Institutes delivered by Inside Education and attended by teachers from across Canada, 2000 and 2001.
- ForestEDWest Education Conferences 2004 and 2006.
- Boreal Caribou EcoLab 2004.
- Athabasca River EcoTours 2005.
- The initial development and operation of the Society of Environment-Economy Educators of Ontario.
We researched and reported to the Government of Alberta on the state of public energy education and outreach in Alberta, 2006.
We advised the Government of Alberta on a range of topics and issues relating to public education and outreach to the development of the province's natural resources, the protection of its environment, and the wellbeing of its society.
We participated in the stakeholder advisory process supporting the development of Alberta's Land Use Framework.
